SpaceX Booster Recovery Program
SpaceX operates a fleet of autonomous spaceport droneships (ASDS) across the USA for Falcon 9 missions that cannot land back at the launch site (RTLS).
Falcon 9 missions may need to land on a droneship instead of RTLS due to the weight of the payload or the overall mission profile. Currently, SpaceX operates three droneships, with an original experimental droneship being retired in 2015.
A Shortfall of Gravitas
Autonomous Spaceport Droneship based on the US East Coast for offshore Falcon 9 booster landings.
Just Read the Instructions
Original experimental droneship with the same name as one of the current active ASDS’s. Retired in 2015 after a number of (failed) test landings.
